Goalkeeper lost time to save a life

In the field, the role of the goalkeeper is to save the goal, but for Chris Seitz, off the field, is now saving a life. It all started in 2009 when a player of American Real Salt Lake found that the woman had leukemia. The entire squad signed up as donor marrow to try to help, but by August, neither player was compatible with no patients in need of transplants.

But this summer the situation changed and the goalkeeper was contacted to be compatible with a patient with leukemia. The tests showed that more complete Chris Seitz had the highest compatibility, however, the procedure was not as straightforward as in most cases. In order to help, Seitz would have to undergo surgery in the pelvic area. After small incisions, one needle withdraws material for transplantation.

This procedure requires a few days of rest in a donor 'normal', but for an athlete meant losing the rest of the season. The recovery is slow and prevents sudden movements, violent crashes, races, ie everything that is part of everyday life of a goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper warrants did not hesitate, but, after all, had to ask permission to the club and did not know what would be the reaction of those responsible. The president of the Real Salt Lake, himself a survivor of cancer, raised no issues and got a replacement for the goal.

"I could not help me emote. There are people who are not able to give blood, and he is willing to do such a surgery to try to save the life of someone you do not know and may not even result, "said Schellas Hyndman, club coach in statements to 'ESPN'.

Chris Seitz says it says not a day goes by without think of the person who received the transplant, but besides not being able to know who is, you still need to wait a few months to see if the procedure worked.

A few days after the operation Chris Seitz says she felt like an old, out of power, but was gradually recovering but still not knowing what his professional future for next season. However, the Major League Soccer awarded him the prize for "Humanitarian of the Year".

Lavoisier, 'legend' of the world futsal

This is an interview given by Lavoisier a portuguese site of Futsal.
It is one of the "sacred monsters" of futsal on a global scale and a charismatic figure at the expense of his humility and eccentricity between the posts. Lavoisier Freire, Carlos Barbosa guardian of history and the Brazilian National Team, is now 38 years old and is a few weeks to let the courts but said he is not nostalgic. In the 5x4 exclusive look at the evolution of their specific position - goalkeeper - and reveals hypotheses that arose in its hyper-winning career.

You are soon to end his career. See this World Selection of Brazil and Thailand makes it nostalgic? How is following the career of 'canary' in this tournament?
I'm not nostalgic because I have had a lot of work on my business, besides having workouts. Still could not see any Brazilian team game [nd before the semi-finals]. I hope I get to be able to follow from now on.

What differences do you find between the team that won the World Cup in 2008 and this 2012?
I think the selection of 2008 had more experienced players and more accustomed to big games. This selection, 2012, despite having great players, has a large number of athletes who hitherto had never played a World Cup.

The Brazilian goalkeeper are gaining increasing prominence worldwide. What's special to differentiate them from the others? Have any reference in terms of foreign goalkeeper, someone you admire or follow with particular attention?
The Brazilian goalkeeper train much and here in Brazil there are good coaches goalkeeper - I think that makes a difference. Moreover, there is a very large competitiveness in the championships here, which makes the goalkeepers have many moments axtivos and are always accompanied in the form técnica.Tenho Nazari goalkeeper of Iran, which for me was one of the fastest evolved, as the goalkeeper of Italy - Mammarella - besides Spanish Juanjo ... I think we are going through a good guard-generation redes. No Brazil we have an excellent supply of goalkeeper.

Since beginning his career so far, as you see the evolution of their specific position? To what extent is different being a goalkeeper now than it was a couple of years ago? Your training has changed a lot?
When I started playing, we played fairly under the crossbar, we used more agility, reaction and reflection ... would attack the ball more and the average height was menor.Hoje have great goalkeeper facing better, so no need to jump to defend , play more upright, not attack the ball, putting themselves in the path of the ball, something that derives from a Spanish school and had great influence of Luis Amado, a goalkeeper outstanding. There is a significant change in position and this change is that coaches recente.Espero goalkeeper may merge schools Spanish (European) position and very technical movements with the Brazilian, agility, speed and quick reaction.

He is happy to finish this cycle seeing the Liga Futsal emerge as one of the strongest - if not the most powerful - the World with great players returning to Brazil?
Sure, I am honored and even more so by end this cycle of my life in ACBF (Carlos Barbosa).

Remained faithful to Carlos Barbosa and further to the Brazilian futsal, never having emigrated. Why was so much time on the same team? Was there any time when you had tempting offers from abroad, including from Portugal?
I was so long due to the structure, planning, a good salary and also due to my family, who loves the city. I had plenty of invitations to play outside Brazil, including Portugal. But the ACBF always gave me very good working conditions.

Looking back, is there anything pity not being able / done as a player?
Yes, having won more titles when he was in active [laughs] ... the player lives in my search for titles and they've always been very determined.

What are your plans after you finish your playing career?
I will devote myself fully to my two companies ... one of personalized gifts and other products licensed clubs.

What message do you want to pass all those - are many - who will miss her?
The message is let thanks to all those who adimiraram my work. Obrigadoooo everyone, hope may have left a few lines written in this book called Futsal.

Check now the reasons why Lavoisier one of the most admired and best goalkeeper of the World.
